Landscape & Interpretation Study at Connecticut College Arboretum
Explore the Native Plant Collection of Connecticut College Arboretum with a particular focus on how interpretive features shape visitor experience. Established nearly 100 years ago, featuring over 2,400 accessioned plants on 20 acres, the Collection is poised to revamp its visitor experience and interpretive planning. This study will invite students to learn about the Arboretum's goals for reinterpretation, including signage, hardscape, and accessibility; to explore the collection both independently and through guided instruction; and to apply observations to generating recommendations for interpretive changes. Course participants will gain skills through a combination of instructor presentation and collaborative work with fellow participants, attendees will audiences engage with native plant installation and exhibits.
Intermediate: Participation in our Basic Certificate, experience with home gardening, or early-career professional in botany, horticulture, or conservation.
