Plants 101: An Introduction to the Green World
Plants 101 is designed for curious beginners who want to learn more about how we define and classify plants, how they function, how they participate in our ecosystems, and more. This fully online, self-paced class will introduce you to a range of plants, with a particular focus on the diverse plant life of New England. Readings, videos featuring experienced botanists and horticulturists, short journaling exercises, and outdoor exploration will facilitate your learning. As you move through this course, you will grow in your ability to identify and describe plants and to advocate for their importance. Expected time to complete: 12 hours.
Notes: This course is also appropriate for individuals who have some plant knowledge and would appreciate a refresher. If you are new to the world of plants and interested in our Basic Certificate, we recommend taking this course before enrolling in our foundational certificate courses, Plant Form and Function, Plant Families, or Plant Ecology.
Please note: Registration closes Friday, October 10, 2025 at 5 PM OR when all spaces are filled, whichever comes first.
