The talk will cover spruce-fir; northern hardwood; rich mesic (sugar maple); oak-white pine; oak-hickory; pitch pine-scrub oak; and several more forest and woodland communities. The influence of geology, soils, topography, and disturbance patterns will be discussed for each forest type, as well as their characteristic plants, both common and rare.
