With the growing concern about fire on conserved property throughout the country, you may wonder what wildland fire means for New England. Wildland fire is not as frequent or destructive in our region as in the western U.S.; in fact, a few of our endangered plant communities depend on fire. Learn about pine barrens, which are critical habitats for these plant communities and can be found from Cape Cod to the Connecticut River Valley.
