Meadow Gardens beyond Summer
With warm-season grasses and late-blooming wildflowers, meadows come into their own predominantly in the late summer and autumn months. Using the Old Meadow at Garden in the Woods as launching point, staff Horticulturalist Anna Fialkoff focuses on what to emphasize during a meadow's "off season," such as using ephemerals out of the woodland context, designing legible layers in the landscape, and drawing the eye to shrubs at the meadows edge.
